SADiE ANNOUNCES LRX LOCATION RECORDER
AES Convention, Barcelona - 28th May 2005 - SADiE announces the European launch of the LRX Remote, a new laptop-based flexible Location Recorder for a wide variety of location recording applications.
THE SADiE LRX has been designed to fulfil the needs of an ever more complex recording environment. It is as effective in capturing the original soundtracks for film and television productions as it is for producing location audio recordings for release on distributed media such as CD or DVD. The LRX combines SADiE's proven high-quality professional audio input and output modules with a tactile hardware control surface and the ability to use a standard laptop as the host computer to provide a powerful and effective combination.
The LRX hardware control surface comprises a small assignable mixer with 8 motorised faders, including pre-fade listen and dedicated record enable buttons; a complete editorial interface with fully weighted jog wheel and ergonomic editing buttons; locator memories; transport controls and a headphone monitor output.
This powerful combination is supplied with a special version of the SADiE on-screen graphical user interface, which simplifies user operation whilst retaining SADiE's legendary stability and reliability. The LRX will provide metadata support to simplify the whole audio production chain. Timecode and professional genlock facilities are also included.
The flexibility aspect of the LRX hinges on its ability to incorporate the same high quality i/o cards as the SADiE H64 multitrack workstation, according to the particular application; be it multitrack analogue or digital recorder; location sound recorder and playback device; on-set ADR; etc. The LRX is complimented with totally professional interfaces to lock the machine to timecode or incoming word clock depending upon the application.
The LRX utilises a standard PC Laptop with a USB2 interface. It is simple to attach a second external drive, via USB2 or Firewire, to mirror recordings and provide a simultaneous safety copy. An added benefit is that a video stream may be simultaneously captured for playback or ADR whilst the actors are still on set.
The LRX includes dedicated editing function buttons. Scrub, EDL/SRC, Xfade, Select, Zoom, In, Out, Razor and Preview and a weighted jog wheel. The built in mixer with automation and the 8 motorised faders allow rapid switching between the input and output busses with simple bank switching. Pre-fade listen over headphone output, direct record track select, plus locator buttons and a separate monitor buss.
Speaking of the new development, SADiE Sales & Marketing Director Geoff Calver commented, "Following discussions with leading independent sound recordists, we identified a need for a location recording device that combined all the power, functionality and extended file management capability of SADiE with the convenience of being able to utilise the standard PC laptop computer that most professionals carry on-set these days anyway. Building on experience with the SADiE BB2 family of USB-2 connected products, we have produced a totally unique device that provides an extensive familiar control surface for precise control and management of the location recording process".
