CLIPSTORE WINS INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR SADiE AUDIO EDITING
Stretham, Cambs. UK. July 2007 - Clipstore Ltd. of Leeds, UK, has beaten off a prestigious international line-up, including the U.S. public broadcasting organisation ABC Radio Networks, in winning a bronze medal at the New York Festival's Radio Broadcasting Awards. The award, for 'Best Editing', is for a unique piece of experimental radio entitled "Then-Now", a Soundscape Productions programme for BBC Radio 4.
Clipstore Editor Warwick Pilmer at the SADiE LRX2 The programme is a unique piece of radio, which explores what happened on one particular minute in one particular day. Over a hundred members of the public across the UK were asked to submit a recording of what they were doing between 6pm - 6.01pm on 9th November 2005. These recordings were then edited using the SADiE LRX2 into a radio-poem, grouping together similar activities like working, travelling, playing and cooking, and then linked by writer and broadcaster Sean Street. The editor, Warwick Pilmer, said, "Given the extremely wide variety of recording techniques and ambiences, the challenge lay in piecing hundreds of diverse recordings into a flowing 24-minute radio-poem. This was made much easier by the speedy and fluid SADiE LRX2 system. The producer Andy Cartwright, of Soundscape Productions said, "Having edited most of our productions with Clipstore, we felt confident in bringing a more artistic and challenging radio piece to them. I knew my ideas of creating a symphony of sound with melodies, harmonies and fugues constructed from these recordings of just one minute in the life of the country would be in safe hands. Now they have been justly rewarded." Clipstore Ltd are specialists in audio editing and CD mastering and have been keen users of the SADiE platform for all their production work for over ten years. They were delighted to use the new SADiE LRX2 system on this program. Clipstore's Tony Bonner commented "We upgraded our original LRX to the more powerful LRX2 which has been a really worthwhile move - for us. The very first job once we had upgraded was to record a full orchestra and choir of 600 on location (34 tracks worth) then bring it back here to overdub all the lead / backing vocals (taking it up to about 46 tracks). No external kit, no latency, it just worked seamlessly as a nice multitrack / desk." |
